Government to form committee to tackle issues related to exporters

09 Mar 2015 Evaluate
Exporters are going to have some relief in the coming days, as the Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that the government is planning to form a committee to tackle issues related to exporters as well as boosting outward shipments. The minister has further stated that the committee will meet every six months to tackle the issues.

The proposed committee will have members from the exporting community too and will ensure how problems being faced by exporters can be addressed effectively and will also act as a problem-solving and redressal suggestion team for the government. Sitharaman also said that the government is making every effort to remove obstacles like protectionist measures of some countries.

The minister stated further that exporters are facing problems not because of poor quality products, but because access to markets is restricted and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with various countries will give a fillip to exports. She added that the government is working on FTAs, which till now have not been leveraged by exporters much to their advantage.
