Wipro rises on the buzz of plan to launch BPO service for the domestic market

Wipro is currently trading at Rs. 658.15, up by 3.15 points or 0.48% from its previous closing of Rs. 655.00 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 655.65 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 676.90 and Rs. 650.35 respectively. So far 110552 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 676.90 on 11-Mar-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 475.35 on 19-May-2014.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 676.90 and Rs. 645.05 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 162460.35 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 73.40% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 13.58% and 11.06% respectively.

Wipro, a leading global information technology, consulting and business process services company, is reportedly planning to officially launch business process outsourcing (BPO) services in the domestic market with major focus on transaction processing works instead of pure voice-based BPO services. Currently, the company has a very little presence in the BPO space in the country and the service is mainly focused on global markets. The company is creating two horizontal practices around ‘digital India’ and ‘smart city’ with separate teams to exploit business opportunities in these areas.
