In order to increase the agricultural production in the Assam state by providing facilities and assistance to farmers for double cropping in their lands, the state government has launched an ambitious programme. Under the programme ‘Momai Tamuli Barbaruah Krishak Bondhu Scheme’, facilities and assistance will be provided for double cropping in all the crop areas which have so far been utilized for single cropping only.
The Chief Minister of the state Tarun Gogoi while launching the scheme at Timtimia village in Jorhat stated that efforts were initiated through this programme to increase agricultural production of the state.
Further, he emphasized that agriculture sector has been the focus of his government since 70% people in the state are associated with agriculture.
