The Congress Party expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would hand over the Vyapam scam case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Senior Congress leaders including former union ministers Kapil Sibal and Kamal Nath met Prime Minister Modi in the Parliament and expressed their apprehensions over the probe into the Vyapam scam. The Congress leaders also presented substantial evidences to Prime Minister Modi over the alleged involvement of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the scam.

After meeting Prime Minister Modi, Congress leader Kapil Sibal said that his party insisted that the former takes this case in his own hands and added that as before the elections, he had made statements that he would take action against corruption and would even act against his own men, saying 'na khaaunga na khaane dunga' (neither will eat nor let anyone do so). They are sure the Prime Minister will go by his words and hand over the Vyapam scam over to the CBI.

Kamal Nath also echoed similar sentiments and said that the massive admission and recruitment scam in Madhya Pradesh has affected the future of thousands of youth and added Law on black money will come, but the Prime Minister should also do something about this Vyapam scam. The scam involves the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board or Vyapam, which holds the exams for positions like medical officers, constables, teachers and auditors for government departments.
