Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's desire to be on extended vacation forced the party to delay the holding of a kisan rally. The rally will now be held on April 20 at the Ramlila Ground in the national capital.

BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said that the rally is taking place so late because Rahul Gandhi was on a vacation. Congress was waiting for his vacation to get over before they could think about farmers and also added that he has all the rights to conduct a rally, but first let him finish his vacation and added that the PM Narendra Modi led NDA Government at the Centre is concerned about bettering the life of farmers and laws are being made keeping that in mind.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi announced plans for holding a 'Kisan Rally' to target the Centre's contentious Land Acquisition Bill. Rahul Gandhi would also be present at the rally. He took a leave of absence from active politics in February to reflect on the recent events and the future course that the party should take. The Congress later announced that he had extended his leave
