Most of the Asian equity benchmarks are trading higher in the early deals on Friday, on track for weekly gains, while the dollar gave up some of its overnight rise. The Japanese Market rose following the gains on Wall Street and a stronger dollar on an encouraging US jobs report. Among the other markets in the Asian region, Japan, South Korea, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan are also in positive territory. Meanwhile, Malaysia and Indonesia are lower.
Nikkei 225 rose 15.23 points or 0.08 % to 19,952.95, Taiwan increased 29.24 points or 0.31 % to 9,597.28, KOSPI Index strengthen 25.50 points or 1.24% to 2,084.37, Straits Times jumped 17.02 points or 0.49% to 3,477.32, Hang Seng added by 102.93 points or 0.38 to 27,047.32 and Shanghai Composite was up by 55.43 points or 1.40 % to 4,012.97.
On the flip side, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI declined 4.09 points or 0.22% to 1,845.30 and Jakarta Composite was down by 4.18 points or 0.08% to 5,496.72
