NMDC soars as LIC acquires 2.13% stake

NMDC is currently trading at Rs. 138.45, up by 2.85 points or 2.10% from its previous closing of Rs. 135.60 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 138.60 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 139.40 and Rs. 136.55 respectively. So far 67088 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 196.15 on 06-Jun-2014 and a 52 week low of Rs. 123.00 on 26-Mar-2015.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 139.40 and Rs. 126.75 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 53761.55 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 80.00% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 17.41% and 2.58% respectively.

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has bought 7.98 crore shares, or 2.13% stake in NMDC to take its total stake in the state-run iron ore miner to 10.12%. The shares have been purchased through open market acquisitions between September 20, 2014, and April 9, 2015. Prior to this acquisition, LIC held 8.11% stake in the iron-ore mining company.

Meanwhile, the government is planning to divest 10% stake in NMDC. It has already secured Cabinet approval for the same.

NMDC is a state-controlled mineral producer of the Government of India. It is fully owned by the Government of India and is under administrative control of the Ministry of Steel.
