Government agencies bought paddy worth Rs 425 crore in kharif season

The government agencies have purchased paddy worth Rs 425 crore from farmers in Krishna district in the state of Andhra Pradesh during the kharif season. The agencies have purchased 331,135 metric tonnes of paddy from 15,393 farmers.

The government also opened a paddy procurement centre at Gollapudi village in Krishna district in order to purchase rabi season paddy from farmers. The government agencies have a target to purchase 3.89 lakh tonnes of paddy from farmers during this rabi season which has just commenced.

The state government has guaranteed that the agencies would purchase the entire production of the rabi season at a Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 1,400 a quintal and appealed the farmers not to indulge in distress sales.
