The US markets made a mixed closing on Tuesday in a lackluster day of trade. A lack of major US economic data kept some traders on the sidelines, also traders remained reluctant to make any significant moves ahead of the Fed's monetary policy announcement next Wednesday. Many investors also held back as they waited for more quarterly reports and 2015 forecasts. While, the Dow and S&P 500 ended in red, takeover offer for Mylan NV pushed the Nasdaq Composite Index higher. Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. proposed to buy Mylan for about $40.1 billion.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 85.34 points or 0.47 percent to 17,949.59 and the S&P 500 fell 3.11 points or 0.15 percent to 2,097.29. On the other hand Nasdaq ended up by 19.50 points or 0.39 percent at 5,014.10.
The Indian ADRs made a mixed closing on Tuesday, Dr Reddy’s Lab was down by 0.66%, Wipro was down by 0.54%, Tata Motors was down by 0.20%. On the other hand, HDFC Bank was up by 0.24%, ICICI Bank was up by 0.01% and Infosys gained 0.03%.
