The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has given approval to three highway projects in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. These three highway projects with total length of more than 300 km, have an estimated cost of Rs 5529 crore.
All these three projects have been implemented on BOT (toll) model, with the private sector investing upfront for meeting the capital cost of project, which would be recovered through collection of toll during the concession period.
The first project includes development of eight-laning of Mukarba Chowk to Panipat section of National Highway - 1 in Delhi and Haryana with an estimated cost of Rs 2204.51 crore, while second project is for eight-laning of Agra-Etawah of National Highway 2 with an estimated cost of Rs 1787.02 crore to improve the connectivity in an otherwise infrastructure deficient area in Uttar Pradesh.
The Cabinet also approved four-laning of the Solapur-Bijapur section of National Highway - 13 in Maharashtra and Karnataka, with an estimated cost of Rs 1,537.64 crore including cost of land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation and other pre-construction activities, with the total length of the road will be approximately 109.07 km.
