India’s coffee exports increased by 7.22% to 31,060 tonnes in April this year against 28,966 tonnes in the same period last year. Though, export value realisation was lower at Rs 1,64,078.56 per tonne in this period against Rs 1,69,561.48 per tonne in the same period last year due to sluggish global prices following production surplus in Brazil, the world’s leading producer. Also, Brazil’s currency is ruling weak against the US dollar.

Coffee shipments in value terms stood at Rs 509.63 crore during April of FY 2015-16 as against Rs 491.17 crore in the year ago. As per post-monsoon estimate, India’s coffee output is pegged at 3,31,000 tonne for 2014-15 crop year (October-September), against 3,04,500 tonne in the last year.
