Kumar Vishwas affair row: Victim files complaint, demands clarification

04 May 2015 Evaluate

An Aam Aadmi Party woman volunteer, who has filed a complaint against party leader Kumar Vishwas alleging a physical relationship, said that the poet-turned politician had asked her not to pay heed to his wife's unwarranted allegations. The complainant, who made it clear that she was neither a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nor Congress worker, said she just wanted a clarification from Vishwas on the entire episode.

She said that she appealed to him (Vishwas) to make it clear before the media that nothing happened between us and he condemns this allegation. He himself said that he will address a press conference and make it clear that she was like a younger sister to him. But later, he stopped responding, she wrote letters and got no reply. So, she was forced to file a complaint with the Women's Commission and she added that she participated as an AAP volunteer in the election campaign in 2014. Later, she saw a post on the social media in 2015 in which Kumar Vishwas's wife claimed that she caught us in a compromising position. When she confronted Kumar Vishwas, he asked me not to pay attention to this and not to make a big issue out of it.

Vishwas has been accused of having a physical relationship with the volunteer in the run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Vishwas had unsuccessfully contested against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi from Amethi in the general elections. According to reports, the victim's husband has threatened to divorce her. The victim, who has been living alone for the past one month, has reportedly alleged that Vishwas’s wife has been spreading rumours that she found him in a compromising position with the poet-turned politician. She has also alleged that she is being defamed on social media.
