Orient Cement is reportedly planning to buy a cement plant of about 2 or 3 million tonnes (MT). Through this acquisition, the company wants to ramp up the total production capacity to about 10 MT.
The company is now operating two plants in Telangana and Maharashtra with a total capacity of 5 MT, which will go up to 8 MT after the commissioning of 3 MT Karnataka plant. As the company had invested Rs 2,000 crore in the Karnataka plant, it will be comfortable in acquiring a smaller plant.
