Tata Steel to start commercial production at Kalinganagar plant: Reports

Tata Steel, the flagship company of the Tata Group, is reportedly planning to start commercial production at its greenfield steel unit at Kalinganagar in Odisha in the second half of the current year. The new unit is a 3 million tonne plant is expected to increase the company's production capacity, widen its product portfolio and diversify its customer base. The project will follow a commissioning schedule over the next six months as each facility gets commissioned. With the commissioning of the new steel plant, the company will see its total steelmaking capacity go up to 13 million tonne in India.

Tata Steel, the flagship company of the Tata group is the first integrated steel plant in Asia and is now the world’s second most geographically diversified steel producer and a Fortune 500 Company.
