Sunanda Pushkar case: Bassi won't consider intra-departmental misgivings

02 Jun 2015 Evaluate

Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi declined to look into intra-departmental misgivings between anyone, as AIIMS director Dr. M. C. Mishra filed an affidavit before the Delhi High Court seeking to relieve head of the forensics department, Dr. Sudhir Gupta from his responsibilities. Bassi said that they are not looking into any intra-departmental misgivings between anyone unless it impacts our investigation. So, he was not going to comment upon any intra-departmental misgivings.

Meanwhile, Dr. Gupta has asked for clarification over the stand of AIIMS faculty. Dr. Gupta said that AIIMS director Dr. M. C. Mishra has filed an affidavit to appoint some other faculty in place of him as head of department. What he don't think is right is that it has the approval of the AIIMS secretary and president, that is Union Health Minister J P Nadda. So, they have to clarify what is their stand, because they are also a party in the high court and he added that Dr. Mishra has never written to him, saying that he wants to relieve me from the post of HoD. As per the CCS rules, he has to clarify that. Once the post is vacated, then anyone can be appointed.

Dr. Gupta had earlier been at the centre of controversy after he had claimed that the then-UPA Government at the Centre had pressured him into manipulating the post mortem report on former union minister Shashi Tharoor's wife, Sunanda Pushkar.
