Most of the Asian equity benchmarks are trading lower in the early deals on Wednesday, due to Greece's bailout woes and a stagnant Wall Street performance dampened investor sentiment. The Japanese market slipped as investors booked profits from the market's longest rally in more than three decades, with interest rate sensitive stocks sold the most after bond yields rose globally. Among the other markets in the Asian region, Indonesia, Japan, Shanghai, South Korea and Taiwan are marginally lower. Meanwhile, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia are higher.
Nikkei 225 slipped 61.21 points or 0.30% to 20,481.98, Jakarta Composite decreased 66.15 points or 1.27% to 5,147.67, KOSPI Index declined 0.39 points or 0.02% to 2,078.25, Taiwan Weighted contracted 30.37 points or 0.32% to 9,583.89 and Shanghai Composite was down by 49.95 points or 1.02% to 4,860.58.
On the flip side, Hang Seng gained 203.99 points or 0.74% to 27,670.71, Straits Times gained 10.90 points or 0.33% to 3,351.65 and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI was up by 5.62 points or 0.32% to 1,746.99.
