Tata steel declines as UK unions vote in favour of strike

Tata Steel is currently trading at Rs 308.00, down by 8.40 points or 2.65% from its previous closing of Rs. 316.40 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 317.10 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 319.00 and Rs. 307.80 respectively. So far 505719 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 578.60 on 09-Jun-2014 and a 52 week low of Rs. 311.30 on 27-Mar-2015.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 333.00 and Rs. 307.80 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 30073.69 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 31.35% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 41.38% and 25.43% respectively.

United Kingdom trade union comprising smaller unions Community, GMB, UCATT and Unite voted in favour of a strike against Tata Steel over a pension scheme. Of the 85 percent members of the four unions, 96 percent voted in favour of strike. A ballot of over 17,000 steel workers was sought over a dispute over the existing British Steel Pension Scheme (BSPS) being replaced with a 'money purchase' pension scheme. The scheme primarily hikes the retirement age from 60 to 65.
