Idea Cellular surges on increasing mobile data rates in NCR region

Idea Cellular is currently trading at Rs 178.75, up by 4.85 points or 2.79% from its previous closing of Rs. 173.90 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 175.10 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 179.00 and Rs. 174.15 respectively. So far 139913 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 203.90 on 17-Apr-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 129.80 on 27-Jun-2014.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 179.00 and Rs. 168.05 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 64374.24 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 42.27% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 29.23% and 28.50% respectively.

Idea Cellular has reportedly increased mobile data rates by up to 100% for pre-paid customers in the NCR region. The company has doubled the price for some 2G plans, while 3G will be costlier by about 33%. The new rates came into effect from June 3, 2015.  The company is also planning to increase the data tariffs in five-six more circles in the coming days.

Idea Cellular, an AV Birla group company, provides Global System for Mobile communications (GSM)-based wireless service at the pan-India level, it is present in all 22 telecom circles.
