Indian rupee recovered from the 64 mark against the US dollar in the early trade on Tuesday on fresh selling of the American currency by exporters and banks. Further, gains in Asian currencies market also boosted the sentiment. Besides, strengthening of the euro against the dollar in overseas market on solid German data too supported the rupee. Though, a lower opening in the domestic equity market capped some gains.
The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 63.96, stronger by 13 paise from its previous close of 64.09 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 64.01 and 63.92 respectively. The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) reference rate for the dollar stood at 64.11 and for Euro stood at 71.11 on June 8, 2015. While, the RBI’s reference rate for the Yen stood at 51.06, the reference rate for the Great Britain Pound (GBP) stood at 97.8447. The reference rates are based on 12 noon rates of a few select banks in Mumbai.
