Edelweiss Financial raises $205 million

Edelweiss Financial Services has raised $205 million from foreign investors to capitalise its second credit & special opportunities fund (SOF-2). The listed broking firm has raised the first tranche of the fund from a clutch of overseas pension funds and insurance companies.

The new fund follows the successful deployment of the first series which is learnt to have yielded more than 21%. SOF-2 will invest in privately negotiated collateralised credit transactions with a focus on earning strong risk-adjusted returns. The fund will help quality, asset-rich businesses that are undergoing temporary liquidity stress. It will also allow funds to companies that need additional growth capital.
