The Exchange had sought clarification from Tata Steel with respect to news article appearing in Hindustan Times on June 11, 2015 titled ‘Steel cos slug it out for Odishas chrome’. Tata Steel replied stating that the Government of Odisha had on December 1, 2014 issued the Express Order for 3rd Renewal of the Sukinda Chromite Mine for 20 years. Subsequent to the introduction of the new MMDR Act 2015, the G of Odisha needs to take the decision for extending the validity of this mine lease under this Act. They are engaged in discussions with the Government of Odisha on the same.
