Lalit Gate: BJP slams Congress for raising baseless issues

01 Jul 2015 Evaluate

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticised the Congress for coming up with a baseless issue over former IPL boss Lalit Modi's alleged job offer to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's husband, Swaraj Kaushal, saying it had been done on a personal capacity. Kohli said that regarding all the allegations, an email is sent on personal capacity to a professional appointee who is lawyer in this case which is Swaraj Kaushal and he's not even accepted it. If this is the Congress's idea of impropriety then they need to reflect on all cases that happen every day in the country and he added that very routinely people are requested to be directors, lawyers, advocates. The Congress Party has run out of ideas and is desperately clutching at straws.

He said that this issue has come to the notice though a media channel but the important question is that this is between two individuals. As far as the BJP is concerned they are clearly not interested in Lalit Modi's tweets and they are only interested in the 12 allegations which against Lalit Modi and the PM already said that this is going to be the focus. Lalit Modi had asked Swaraj Kaushal to serve as his back-up on the board of one of his companies.
