ABB bags Rail Bijlee orders for Rs 145 crore

ABB India has won orders worth around Rs 145 crore from the Bhartiya Rail Bijlee Company Ltd. ABB will be responsible for the construction of a substation to connect the newly established Nabinagar thermal power plant to the railway network. The substation will have nine 400-kV bays and seven 132-kV bays and ABB will supply 16 low-loss transformers of various ratings.

 

The orders for a turnkey substation and power transformers were booked in the first quarter. BRBCL is a subsidiary of NTPC and Indian Railways. Its 4 x 250 MW (megawatt) Nabinagar plant is aimed at meeting the growing power demands of rail networks in the Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. The new capacity will support Indian Railways, used by millions of passengers daily, to improve reliability and reduce electricity costs.
