Congress questions PM Modi's promise of 'na khaunga, na khane dunga'

29 Jul 2015 Evaluate

The Congress Party congratulated Ramon Magsaysay Award winner Sanjiv Chaturvedi and said that the exposes made by him has raised many questions against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his fake promises. Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala expressed best wishes to Anshu Gupta and to Sanjiv Chaturvedi for getting the Magsaysay Award. It also raised some fundamental questions to be answered by PM Modi. Sanjiv Chaturvedi has been given this award for exposing corruption and scams in AIIMS. J.P. Nadda, who was then the BJP general secretary, had written against Sanjiv Chaturvedi. Instead of taking action there-on, the PM had removed his own party senior leader from BJP, who was then the Union Health Minister and inducted Nadda as the Union Health Minister.

Randeep questioned whether PM would now have courage of conviction to at least change the portfolio of Nadda if not remove him all together and whether PM will take action on the exposes by Sanjiv Chaturvedi. Now Sanjiv has himself been constrained to say that he is deeply disappointed with the PM as also by the functioning of PMO. He has also now said that he wrongly believed Modi's promise of ' na khaunga, na khane dunga'. He further questioned whether PM will look within and tell the nation the truth of his false promises that he made only to come to power.

Chaturvedi and rights activist Anshu Gupta are among the five people from India, Laos, Myanmar and the Philippines who will receive the coveted Ramon Magsaysay Award. The 2002-batch Indian Forest Service officer, who is currently involved in a prolonged battle with the Centre over his tough stance on graft, Chaturvedi was the former Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. Chaturvedi initiated action in around 200 corruption cases during his stint as the AIIMS CVO.
