Asian markets exhibit mixed trend in early deals on Friday

Asian markets are exhibiting mixed trend in the early deals on Friday following the mixed cues overnight from Wall Street and lower commodity prices. The Japanese market climbed into positive territory, after opening lower on the back of a stronger yen and weak economic data. Among the other Asian markets, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia are also higher. Meanwhile, Shanghai, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan are in negative territory.

Nikkei 225 rose 18.54 points or 0.09% to 20,541.37, Hang Seng jumped 97.53 points or 0.40% to 24,595.51, Jakarta Composite added 74.34 points or 1.58% to 4,786.83 and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI was up by 13.08 points or 0.77% to 1,713.00.

On the flip side, KOSPI Index declined 9.20 points or 0.46% to 2,009.83, Straits Times decreased 44.04 points or 1.36% to 3,205.48, Shanghai Composite dipped 36.32 points or 0.98% to 3,669.45 and Taiwan Weighted was down by 37.83 points or 0.44% to 8,613.66.
