Consumer durable major Videocon Industries will open over 10,000 new stores of its retail venture-- Next and Planet M over a period of next three years as part of its plan to increase foot print in the rural and hinterland areas.
There are over 10,000 small towns in the country. It will have one store in each town in the next three years. Videocon has retail operation under the brand Planet M and Next.
The company will cover 33 per cent of the country's geographical space in the first year and continue it for the next two years. The rural areas have immense potential for growth and the company wants to tap this. It has currently 45,000 dealerships across India and is further looking to increase their numbers.
