'We had no choice but to protest for undemocratic suspension': Tharoor

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor justified his party's protest outside the Parliament, saying they had no choice after the undemocratic suspension of the MPs from the Lok Sabha. Tharoor wished that they had not reached the stage where it is necessary for them to stand outside Parliament and protest rather than inside and speak. Once the very undemocratic suspension occurred, they had no choice.

The Congress Party led by Sonia Gandhi today continued with the protest against the suspension of 25 MPs at the Gandhi statue in Parliament premises. The protestors were seen wearing black bands and holding black flags on the fourth day of the protest today.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi was also present during the protest along with several other senior leaders, including Gulam Nabi Azad, Ahmad Patel, Anand Sharma, Raj Babbar, Jairam Ramesh and Shashi Tharoor. The protestors held hoardings which read 'Speak up Prime Minister' and 'Shameless Government, voiceless PM'. Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan had earlier this week suspended 25 Congress MPs over disruption of parliamentary proceedings under ruling 374 (A), leading to outrage from various quarters.
