SCI advances on reporting three fold jump in Q1 net profit

Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) is currently trading at Rs. 74.15, up by 2.50 points or 3.49% from its previous closing of Rs. 71.65 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 75.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 77.25 and Rs. 72.40 respectively. So far 6,97,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 79.40 on 05-Aug-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 43.85 on 27-Mar-2015.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 79.30 and Rs. 70.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 3,451.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 63.75%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 20.66% and 15.59% respectively.

The company has reported over three fold jump in its net profit at Rs 163.54 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2015 as compared to Rs 49.49 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. However, the company’s total income has decreased by 9.16% to Rs 1090.33 crore for the quarter under review, from Rs 1200.33 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year

SCI is the only Indian shipping company operating break-bulk service, international container service, liquid / dry bulk service, offshore service, passenger service, in addition to manning / managing a large number of vessels on behalf of various government departments and organizations.
