Ambuja Cements, in which Swiss major Holcim holds majority stake, reported a 0.99% dip in June sales at 17.00 lakh tones as compared to the same month last year. The company had recorded 17.17 lakh tones sales in June 2010.
Cumulative sales of the company during the January-June period, however, were up by 1.30% to 110.29 lakh tones against 108.87 lakh tones during the corresponding period a year ago.
The cement production of the company also declined during the reporting month at 16.51 lakh tones against 16.97 lakh tones in June last year. Production decreased to 107.90 lakh tones, compared to 108.44 lakh tones in January-June period of last year.
Ambuja Cements reported a decline of 11.84% at Rs 407.48 crore in its net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 against Rs 462.19 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2010. However, total income of the company increased by 11.24% at Rs 2274.56 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 against Rs 2044.74 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2010.
