Tata Communications rings loud on plan of bidding for Britain’s CWW

Tata Communications is currently trading at Rs 242.00, up by 9.25 points or 3.97% from its previous closing of Rs 232.75 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 234.90 and has touched a high and low of Rs 244.20 and Rs 234.90 respectively. So far 42473 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 263.75 on 18-Apr-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs 176.30 on 24-Nov-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 251.00 and Rs 223.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 6888.45 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 76.15% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 13.58% and 3.63% respectively.

Tata Communications is preparing to bid for Cable & Wireless Worldwide Plc (CWW) - a London-listed telecom giant with origins in the British imperialist days, possibly in the next two weeks. The company would be joining Vodafone Group, which said in February, it is considering bidding for Cable & Wireless, whose fixed-line network could boost bandwidth for its Internet-hungry customers.

CWW may attract valuation upwards of $1.2 billion for its voice-, data- and IP-based services to large clients across four continents.

Tata Communications, part of India's Tata conglomerate, operates submarine cable networks and provides internet services.
