Tata Communications is preparing to bid for Cable & Wireless Worldwide Plc (CWW) - a London-listed telecom giant with origins in the British imperialist days, possibly in the next two weeks. The company would be joining Vodafone Group, which said in February, it is considering bidding for Cable & Wireless, whose fixed-line network could boost bandwidth for its Internet-hungry customers.
CWW may attract valuation upwards of $1.2 billion for its voice-, data- and IP-based services to large clients across four continents.
