ONGC gains as its arm acquires 15% stake in Vankor oil field for $1.35 billion

ONGC is currently trading at Rs. 225.85, up by 0.25 points or 0.11% from its previous closing of Rs. 225.60 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 228.85 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 228.85 and Rs. 223.85 respectively. So far 74310 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 458.95 on 09-Sep-2014 and a 52 week low of Rs. 208.00 on 25-Aug-2015.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 249.00 and Rs. 221.35 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 192370.20 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 68.93% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 17.65% and 13.41% respectively.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s (ONGC) overseas investment arm -- ONGC Videsh (OVL) -- has acquired a 15% stake in Vankor oil field in East Siberia, Russia’s second-largest oil field from Rosneft for about $1.35 billion. The 15 per cent stake will give OVL about 3.5 million tonnes of oil a year.

Under the terms of the agreement, OVL will get two seats on the Board of Directors of Vankorneft - a Rosneft subsidiary that operates the Vankor field. Rosneft will retain full control of infrastructure of the Vankor cluster.
