National Aluminium Company’s (Nalco) bauxite mine located at Panchpatmali Hill, Koraput district in the state of Odisha has bagged the prestigious Pollution Control Excellence Award -2015. The award, instituted by State Pollution Control Board, Odisha (OSPCB) was conferred in recognition of its effective pollution control measures and sound environment management practices at bauxite mines.
The company has been laying special emphasis on promotion and maintenance of pollution-free environment in all its activities. The company has spent Rs 188.32 crore in 2014-15 towards environment protection and pollution control at its four production units.
Nalco has the largest integrated alumina-aluminium complex of Asia. Its integrated operations cover the entire aluminium production value chain from mining bauxite, refining alumina, smelting aluminium, captive power generation to a strong logistic network in terms of rail & port facilities, coal mining and handling plant to support its operations and to become one of the most cost-efficient aluminium companies across the globe.
