Havells expects Rs 500 cr in export earnings over 3 years

Havells India Ltd, an electrical equipment manufacturer has announced the opening of a new automated manufacturing unit in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. This is expected to boost its production of switchgears by almost 70 per cent. Havells already has a switchgear and Main Circuit Board manufacturing unit in Baddi. The company will spend Rs 100 crore in 2009-10 to set up the new plant.

 

Havells’ switchgear export revenues last year was Rs 150 crore, but with the new plant set to be fully active by 2009, the company expects Rs 500 crore from exports of switchgears within the next three years. The company expects to export about 50 per cent of the total production at Baddi.

 

With the addition of the new unit, the annual capacity for domestic use switchgears will go up to five from three crore units, while that of industrial switchgears will increase to 100 crore from 60 crore units and electrical wiring accessories will go up to seven crore units from two and a half crore units.

 

Havells exports internationally to companies such as GE, Eatons, Siemens-Electrium and Proteus. Havells’ products have also received necessary quality certifications from all over the world.
