President Pranab Mukherjee has said that India is looking for greater Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in various sectors such as insurance, construction, defence and railway which have been opened up through policies that will encourage investors, while addressing University of Jordan.
Mukherjee said that India is emerging as one of the largest economies in the world and currently is one of the fastest growing emerging markets in the world. India has experienced an average annual growth rate of more than seven percent over the past decade.
Mukherjee further said that the bilateral trade between India and Jordan has crossed $2 billion during last year. He said a trade target of $5 billion by 2025 has been set and can be achieved if both the countries expand the range of items in trade basket, increase the share of high technology and value added products and also boost exchanges and cooperation in the services sector where the higher priorities are for healthcare, IT and IT-enabled services, financial services, transport and logistics.
