Idea Cellular to unveil 4G services in 750 towns

Idea Cellular is planning to unveil 4G services in 750 towns across ten circles within the first half of 2016. The circles include Maharashtra and Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka, Orissa, Tamil Nadu and North East. The company has acquired spectrum in the 1800 MHz band that is used in 4G services in two spectrum auctions held in February 2014 and March 2015. The company is also planning to introduce its branded digital service applications music, games, movies and digital wallets.

4G services will enable quicker surfing on the web on mobile, tablets and laptops at speeds almost equal to what one gets from his home broadband. 4G will be ideally suited for services requiring high capacities like video streaming, mapping and social sites.

Idea Cellular, an AV Birla group company, provides Global System for Mobile communications (GSM)-based wireless service at the pan-India level, it is present in all 22 telecom circles.
