Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has reported over eight fold jump in its net profit at Rs 161.21 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2015 as compared to Rs 18.59 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. However, the company’s total income has decreased by 1.02% to Rs 1138.57 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 1150.27 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
SCI is the only Indian shipping company operating break-bulk service, international container service, liquid / dry bulk service, offshore service, passenger service, in addition to manning / managing a large number of vessels on behalf of various government departments and organizations.
