Lanco consortium bags Rs. 885-cr solar project from Mahagenco

Lanco Solar, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lanco Infratech, has bagged a Rs. 885-crore contract from the Maharashtra State Power Generation Co (Mahagenco) to build a solar power project in the state. The 75-mw photovoltaic solar power project has been awarded to a consortium of Lanco Solar and Juwi Renewable India. The project, to be located at Dhule, will be fully commissioned by February 2012. 

The group aims to achieve 300-mw solar power generation capacity and win contracts to set up another 300-500 mw solar plant in the next two years. Lanco Solar has signed agreements with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam under the National Solar Mission and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam to set up 141-mw solar plants. The company is setting up a facility in Chhattisgarh for manufacture of polysilicon ingots, wafers and modules. It has already commissioned a solar photovoltaic farm of 5-mw capacity in Gujarat.crackcrack
