Crompton Greaves will establish a 100 MVA (mega volt ampere) power transformer plant and high tension switchgear unit at a cost of $30 million (about Rs 135 crore) in Brazil. This expansion will create a local manufacturing platform that will transform the company into a significant player in the Latin American Market.
The installed capacity of the plant will be about 6,000 MVA. Brazil is the biggest transmission and distribution market in Latin America of about $2.3 billion (Rs 10,350 crore) and a burgeoning domestic demand.
