Ignoring the weak local equities and strong dollar overseas, Rupee went on capturing gains and ended close at a 10-week high on Friday. Sustained dollar selling amid hectic capital inflows mainly injected strength in the local currency. Meanwhile, the local currency completed a second weekly gain as overseas investors added to holdings of the nation's assets. On the global front, disappointing U.S. jobs report and growing worries that the euro-zone debt crisis could spread to larger member nations dragged the euro lower against all its major rivals on Friday.

Finally the Rupee ended at 44.32/33, stronger than 10 paise from its previous close of 44.42/43 on Thursday. The Reserve Bank of India's reference rate for the Dollar stood at 44.3263 and for Euro it stood at 63.6456 on July 08, 2011. While, the RBI's reference rate for the Yen stood at 54.55 and the reference rate for the Great Britain Pound (GBP) stood at 70.7448. The reference rates are based on 12 noon rates of a few select banks in Mumbai.
