Japanese market trade higher in early deals on Monday

08 Feb 2016 Evaluate

Japanese market, the only major Asian market trading today was in green, despite the concerns about weak earnings and after the US jobs report failed to give clues on the Federal Reserve's monetary policy outlook. The Labor Department report showed disappointing job growth in January, as US non-farm payroll employment climbed by 151,000 jobs, compared to estimates for an increase of 188,000 jobs. However, the unemployment rate fell to 4.9 percent in January from 5.0 percent in December, pulling the jobless rate to its lowest level since February 2008. Most of the regional markets are closed for the Lunar New Year holiday, including China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.

Nikkei 225 was up by 73.98 points or 0.44% to 16,893.57.
