The Supreme Court declined to entertain the plea on Jat agitation, saying that matters like these should be left for the government to handle. The apex court was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), which sought its intervention into the law and order breakdown pertaining to the pro-reservation protest being carried out by the members of Jat community in Haryana.

The court, in its observation, said that it was a case of political gimmickry and the leaders should take stock of the situation and sort it out. Urging the protestors to maintain peace, harmony and brotherhood in the state, the apex court said that such issues not be brought to the court. The members of the Jat community have been protesting for the last eight days demanding reservation in government jobs.
