The government has offloaded 1,16,334.85 tonnes of pulses in the open market so far seized from hoarders, as per information provided by Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan. This step has been taken in order to boost supply and contain rising prices.
The government has offloaded 78,232.35 tonnes of pulses in the state of Maharashtra out of 80,167.44 tonnes seized from hoarders, while in Karnataka state, 23,708.34 tonnes have been disposed out of 25,545.83 tonnes.
The government had conducted a total 14,482 raids in 14 states and Union Territories and seized 1,26,758.59 tonnes of pulses from hoarders.
