Glenmark launches Canadian firm's anti-ageing products

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals is launching anti-ageing productsfrom the stable of Canadian firm Immanence-IDC as it forays in to thecosmeceuticals segment in India. A new division- 'Glenmark CosmoCare' has beenformed to pursue opportunities in the cosmeceutical segment in the country. Cosmeceutical products are a combination of cosmeticsand pharmaceuticals with biologically active ingredients purporting to havemedical or drug-like benefits.

Glenmark had entered into a ten year agreement with ImmanenceIDC to distribute the Canadian company's dermatology products in eightcountries -– India, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Egypt, Vietnam, Malaysia andThailand. The company plans toroll out of the range in most of these markets by end of financial year- FY 12. The company's foray into cosmeceuticalswill significantly enhance the firm's dermatology product offerings and willfurther consolidate its leadership position in the segment.

The IDC anti-ageing products will be available at clinics ofleading cosmetologists and dermatologists in around 30 cities across India onprescription from doctors. Product line of IDC launched in India includesproducts like ultra purifying cleansing gel, anti wrinkle and firming integralcorrection serum and deep wrinkles serum, among others.
