22 Mar 2016 Evaluate

The proposed strike on March 29 by state-owned Coal India (CIL) employee unions has been deferred after a meeting between trade unions and Coal India management. The strike had been called by four central trade unions in all the mines and units of CIL as well as those of Singareni Collieries Company. The strike was called to protest against the rounds of divestment at CIL as also certain service related issues.

Coal India is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
