Tata Steel recognized as one of World's Most Ethical Companies

19 Mar 2012 Evaluate

Tata Steel has been named among the world’s most ethical companies by an American think tank, Ethisphere Institute. The steel major is the one of the only two Indian companies that has featured in the 2012 list of ‘World’s Most Ethical Companies’ -- the other being Wipro.

Ethisphere’s annual list of the World’s Most Ethical Companies (WME) recognises companies that truly go beyond making statements and conduct business ethically by translating words into actions.

This is the sixth year Ethisphere has published the World's most Ethical (WME) company rankings. The methodology for the WME ranking includes reviewing codes of ethics, litigation and regulatory infraction histories; evaluating the investment in innovation and sustainable business practices; looking at activities designed to improve corporate citizenship; and studying nominations from senior executives, industry peers, suppliers and customers.

Recently, Tata Steel had been acknowledged as the most admired Indian company. It had topped the list of India's 50 most-admired companies in a survey compiled by Fortune India and global management consultancy Hay Group.
