Birla Corporation has commenced the trial production of clinker from the brownfield cement capacity expansion project of 1.2 million tonne at Chanderia with effect from March 17, 2012.
However, the mining operations at Chanderia remain suspended as per the directions of the Court. The Indian Bureau of Mines has conducted inspection and various tests with regard to the mining activities at Chanderia and a report has since been submitted by them to the Court. The matter is expected to be listed for hearing shortly.
Birla Corporation operates four division cement, jute, vinoleum and auto trim. It has eight manufacturing facilities located in Pune, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Gurgoan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
