MTNL surges on getting Rs 429 crore for surrender of 800 MHz spectrum

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL) is currently trading at Rs. 17.95, up by 0.25 points or 1.41% from its previous closing of Rs. 17.70 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 17.80 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 18.15 and Rs. 17.60 respectively. So far 111813 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'B' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 24.50 on 03-Dec-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 14.45 on 25-Aug-2015.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 18.30 and Rs. 16.80 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 1134.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 56.25% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 21.79% and 21.96% respectively.

MTNL has received Rs 428.95 crore from government for surrendering spectrum in the 800 MHz band, used for providing CDMA mobile services in the country.

The government had approved to compensate MTNL, which telecom service provider in Delhi and Mumbai, for surrender of 800 MHz spectrum for Rs 458.04 crore.

MTNL had reported a narrowed down net loss at Rs 704.93 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2015.
