India's palm oil imports rise 5.34% in March

India’s palm oil imports rose by 5.34% to 6,42,562 tons during March 2016 compared to the previous month on account of sluggish global prices, as per the data compiled by Solvent Extractors Association (SEA).

India purchased 6,09,939 tons of palm oil in February this year. Palm oils make up for 65% of the country’s total vegetable oil imports. The annual oil demand is around 17-18 million tons and 60% of this is met through imports.
