Soyabean production estimates for 2015-16 have been revised downwards by 6.21% in its mid-term review by industry body Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA). The soyabean production was revised downward in Kharif 2015 from the earlier estimate of 73.88 lakh tonne (LT) to 69.29 LT considering the arrivals till date, crushing, exports, domestic consumption and available stock and arrival pattern.
According to the revised numbers, the highest fall in production of 4.6 LT or 17%, was registered in Maharashtra. The second largest soybean producer Maharashtra’s production is expected to be 22 LT. There is no change in production of Madhya Pradesh at 34.125 LT.
Further, SOPA made no change in the production figures of Rajasthan - 7.865 LT and others, at 5.3 LT.
