INEOS ABS (India)’s JV to expand ABS specialties capacity in Vadodara

INEOS ABS (India) JV - Styrolution, with a view of expanding business, has chalked out some initiative with the expansion of ABS specialties capacity in Vadodara, India, which will foster growth by enabling Styrolution to meet increased domestic demand for its products.

The capacity expansion will be achieved through debottlenecking, which involves installing an additional SAN line and expanding compounding capacity. Further, after the debottlenecking, which is expected to be finished by 2014, the ABS capacity in Vadodara will amount to 110 Kilotons per year.

Styrolution is a 50:50 JV between BASF and INEOS, comprising the key styrenics activities of the two partners. Styrolution is the world’s leading styrenics supplier.

INEOS ABS (India) was originally incorporated as ‘ABS Plastics’ to manufacture thermo plastic polymers. In 2008, it became a part of the Ineos Group which is currently one of the largest petrochemical companies in the world in terms of sales. It is a leader in the Indian ABS and SAN market catering to around 50% and 70% of the total domestic demand of ABS and SAN respectively. ABS and SAN are versatile engineering thermoplastic material.
